Dietitians know all about food and nutrition. In honor of Registered Dietitians Day (March 11), we asked our RD's about their favorites dishes. The answers may surprise you! Our dietitians follow the philosophy of the SAGE Spotlight Program®. Eating a variety of foods, balancing choices and moderating less desirable options is the way to go! Lauren Hess: Favorite green dot food: "Strawberries – I love this fruit! They're delicious in everything from salads to smoothies, and even dessert." Favorite yellow-dot food: "Vanilla Almond Milk – I'm new to the almond milk world, but this milk tastes like a milkshake – so it's a delicious treat!" Favorite red dot food: "Pizza. Just cheese. It's so delicious!" Leah Renert: Favorite green dot food: "Oatmeal...I'll switch up the ingredients depending on the season. Experimenting with different flavors and textures keeps it fun." Favorite yellow dot food: "Eggs. I try to have a few hard-boiled on hand; they're great if I need to take breakfast on the go. When I have the time, I'll scramble eggs with black beans, salsa and avocado. Mmm...that's my favorite!" Favorite red dot food: "Carrot cake is my weakness! If it's on the dessert menu, I'm going to get it." Lesley Vogel: Favorite green dot food: "I LOVE salad! It can be different every day by using a variety of different greens and lots of brightly colored veggies! I love adding homemade dressing with fresh herbs! DELISH!" Favorite yellow dot food: "Guacamole! It's good on just about everything!" Favorite red dot food: "Pizza. If I were stranded on an island and could only have one food, it would be pizza! The more toppings the better for me! Paired with a salad, it's my favorite meal!" Sarah Weschler: Favorite green dot food: “Broccoli – my favorite go to vegetable and it's good in so many ways – roasted, steamed and in soups!” Favorite yellow-dot food: “Mashed potatoes – this is a nostalgic food for me and is very comforting.” Favorite red dot food: “French fries – do I even need to explain? Crispy, but soft are my favorite, with ketchup – and sometimes mayonnaise."
